Georgie FRRR 305X

"Georgie" Black Gray Mouflan Horned Icelandic Ewe - twin
It is probable that Georgie cannot be bred, therefore she is being sold as a fiber animal only. She was born with very large thick horn buds, like a ram would have. Her horns are still larger than a typical ewes.  Her external female parts are also atypical. I believe that she would be considered a hermaphrodite. She would probably make a good companion animal for a ram where a person wishes to keep only one ram on the farm. She has very nice fleece and a pretty, feminine head. Our shearer said that she would probably live a very long and healthy life, since
she will never have the stress of lambing, nor the stress of a breeding ram.

Flora FRRR 335X

Black Gray Spotted Horned Icelandic Ewe - single
Sire: Tumnus
Dam: Pomona
D.O.B. April 2010
Flora was not put into the breeding pen this year. I decided to give her another summer to grow out before breeding. She should be very hardy and lamb easily, as her mother and grandmother are both that way. She carries black, moorit, spotting and grey. She should add a lot of nice color to your flock.
Price: $300 registered (On Deposit)

Alice FRRR 210W

"Alice" White Horned Icelandic Ewe - single
D.O.B. 4/22/09
Lambing record: 1,
Alice is being sold as a grade ewe. She had an easy time lambing, and took very good care of her lamb. She has a very abundant fleece, and will produce a lovely fleece for a hand-spinner. She is being sold as grade because I am very fussy about what passes as registered on my farm. She passed my initial criteria and was not culled as a lamb, but she has not developed conformationally into the quality that one would expect from registered stock. That being said she will make someone a fine little ewe, just grade, that's all.
Price: $200 Sells grade and open. (On Deposit)

Teton FRRR 114U

Teton at 9 month of age.
"Teton" FRRR114U Horned White Ram (single to a one winter ewe)
Son of our ram wonderful ram Tumnus. Grandson of AI ram Kjalvar. This ram has the very quiet and docile temperment of his father. He is not as large of a ram as Tumnus though. The other wonderful thing about him is that he is showing signs of being even more parasite resistant than his sire. I have not yet needed to deworm him in 2009. His parasite resistance has been stellar again in 2010, which is really saying something, because this has been a terrible year for parasite problems with the extreme heat and plentiful rainfall. He also threw some really beautiful daughters this year, that we are happy to be adding to the flock. Teton's horns are narrowly missing his face. I had planned on sawing them this summer, but just can't bear to cut those lovely curls unless I absolutely must. I can still fit my finger between his horn and his jaw, so for now they stay. (keeping fingers crossed :o) Since this post, one horn has been cut.

Fauna FRRR 112U

"Fauna" FRRR 112U Horned White Icelandic Ewe (twin)
Grandaughter of AI ram Gaddur. Friendly and curious. Not bred as a one winter ewe. Very solidly built ewe. Despite the leader sheep bloodlines in her background, she is not built like one at all. Fauna is one of those ewes that you never have to worry about, as she is a very keeper, and she took excellent care of her babies last year. I am finding that I really like these ewes that have a bit of leader sheep genetics in their backgrounds. My observations are that they are quite hardy, more parasite resistant and quite intelligent (but not too much so! :o) They also have better meat qualities than the lines that have strictly leader sheep bloodlines.

Fauna was our first ewe to lamb this year. Her twin ewes were born on the morning of March 31st. She showed no signs of lambing when I went down to do chores at 6 a.m., but by the next barn check at 10 a.m., she had all ready given birth, cleaned them up and had them nursing. She's such a good mama!

Minnie FRRR 110U

"Minnie" Horned White Icelandic Ewe (single)
Cute little granddaughter of Southram's Gaddur. She's a little bit shorter than many of my ewes, but is nice and wide and deep, so she was able to carry twins without a problem last year. Gave birth as a one winter ewe without assistance. I'm guessing she carries moorit, since she has lots of pheomelanin on her face, legs and tail. She's just a good natured ewe, that willingly let me milk her out in the pasture last spring, when I needed to collect milk for a bottle lamb. I just put a little grain in a bucket, and she was quite content to just stand there for me!

Secret SRX 757S

"Secret" SRX 757S Horned White Icelandic Ewe (triplet)
Secret is an F1 daughter of Icelandic ram Abel, and came from Susan Briggs flock at Tongue River Farm. She has a very broad chest and back, with huge thick horns. Really good mother and easy lamber. Timid and alert, she likes to keep to herself, and even though we purchased her with the name Secret, I could not think of a more appropriate name for this girl! She is rather difficult to get a decent photo of! Despite that, she is a very easy keeper and shows excellent resistance to the barberpole worm.

Sateen SRX 750S

CLRC Pedigree (click for CLRC pedigree)
Polled Black Badgerface Icelandic Ewe (Single)
Sateen is an F1 daughter of icelandic ram Rektor. She came from Susan Briggs Tongue River Farm in Missouri. She is a big, milky ewe and a great mother. Easy to handle despite being polled.  I have been hoping to get a horned line out of this fantastic ewe, but alas, no luck as of yet, thus she will be for sale after this lambing season. She is a wonderful ewe, and if I raised polled Icelandic sheep, I'd want my whole flock to be just like her.

Lambing record: 2,2,2,2
Carries: solid, spotting and badgerface
75% AI by Rektor and Buri
Sateen was exposed to Jack Frost for 2011 lambs, but I don't think she is pregnant. being sold as open, but it is possible she could have lambs... just very late.

Leela SSW 059T

"Leela" SSW 059T Horned Black Icelandic Ewe - single
Sweet Leela is a calm and sensible mother, with a kind eye and soft, spiraling wool. She has been a great mother every year. Never any problems lambing and her babies are always fantastic. She always throws fast growing babies with super soft fleece, and a heads up, alert attitude. She also has very good parasite resistance.

Sylvia SSW 027S

"Sylvia" SSW 027S Horned Black Mouflon Icelandic Ewe (twin)
Sylvie is always keeping a watchful eye on her lambs and flock mates. Superb mother, she is quiet, gentle and curious. She has leadersheep like behavior, but has a slightly heavier frame than the average leadersheep. Lambs easily and and has a nice udder. Her mouflan babies have the unique coloring that AI ram Hnykill is known for. Some breeders refer to the color as grouflan, frosted, or grizzled.

Sylvia lambed a pair of white babies on the afternoon of April 6th. She is, as usual, a wonderful mother. It is really hard to get a photo of her babies, because she always puts herself between the me and her babies! What a good mama... protecting her babes from the paparazzi! :o)

Tumnus TCE 323T

"Tumnus" TCE323T Horned Moorit Grey Ram (twin)
This ram is the son of BLW 907S who was the Supreme Champion ram at the Michigan Fiber Festival in 2006. He is the grandson of icelandic rams Grimur and Eldar. His gorgeous, wide sweeping horns are perfectly symmetrical and he has a wonderful docile temperament. He is a joy to work on and usually stands nicely for hoof trimming and shearing, better than most of the ewes! He also seems to be quite resistant to parasites, as he has only needed deworming a few times over the past two seasons. His son Teton, has not needed any deworming in 2009. Overall, this is an outstanding ram that throws some very beautiful daughters.
