Dotty is technically a white ewe even though she has a spot of black on her side. It is the equivalent of having a hole in her "white pajamas" and being able to see the color under the pajamas. :o)
Update: I have decided that I think Dotty is actually spotted. When she was shorn, the black spot had a grey base, and so I believe that this would actually make her a black grey spotted icelandic.
